10) dukes nose / nagphani

Earlier known as Nagphani now popularly known as Dukes Nose after DukeWellington. Nagphani means hood of snake. Popular hiking trail located in Khandala it is visible while exiting towards Mumbai from Khandala on expressway.Dukes nose trek is located between Khandala and Lonavala.

9) Raigad fort

Rajgad (literal meaning Ruling Fort) is a hill fort situated in the Pune district of MaharashtraIndia. Formerly known as Murumdev, the fort was the capital of the Maratha Empire under the rule of Chhatrapati Shivaji for almost 26 years, after which the capital was moved to the Raigad Fort.

8) Torna fort

Torna Fort, also known as Prachandagad, is a large fort located in Pune district, in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is historically significant because it was the first fort captured by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in 1646, at the age of 16, forming the nucleus of the Maratha empire.

7) lohagad

Lohagad is one of the many hill forts of Maharashtra state in India. Situated close to the hill station Lonavala and 52 km northwest of Pune, Lohagad rises to an elevation of 1,033 m above sea level. The fort is connected to the neighboring Visapur fort by a small range.

6) Tung fort

Tung Fort was built before 1600 CE. It was built by the Adil Shahi dynasty but was captured by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It is a small fort, and able to hold not more than 200 troops at a time

5) Malhargad-

4)visapur trek

Location- Malawi railway station

Difficulty- medium

Trek – 1/ half hrs

Season- all year, monsoon preferred

3)Tikona fort

Tikona also known as Vitandgad is the dominant hill fort in Maval in western India. It is located near Kamshet around 60 km from Pune. The village nearest to the fort is called Tikona-Peth. The 3500 ft high hill is pyramidal in shape and the name Tikona means “triangular”.

2) Shaniwar wada

Shaniwarwada (ISO: Śanivāravāḍā) is a historical fortification in the city of Pune in Maharashtra, India, built-in 1732

Difficulty- easy

Open- all days

Time- 9 am to 6 pm

Entry fee- 25 RS per person

Amenities- food stalls, parking

Attractions- Dilli darwaja, 2 hr light show

(7:15- 8:10 am) Marathi, 8:15 to 9:10 English

1) andarbhan

Andharban, as the name suggests, means a dark dense forest. It’s a daylong monsoon trek that begins at Pimpri dam.

Location- mulshi

Height- 2100 m

Difficulty- hard

Best time- june- sept

Highlights- kundalka valley, tanum ghat, dark forest, trekking , camping etc
